History
The New Bern Artist Studio Tour was started in 2018 by Chris Wagner and group of volunteers. Originally called the Neuse River Artists Studio Tour, it took place in May. Over the years, the tour has changed and evolved, and been operated by dedicated volunteers, with support from local nonprofit organizations. In 2023, Craven Arts Council & Gallery became the fiscal sponsor for the tour, incorporating it as part of the mission of the organization.
For the 2025 New Bern Artists Studio Tour, a new team of volunteers and Craven Arts Staff have taken over management of the event. We hope to expand the event further with fun, exciting, and educational opportunities. We hope you will join us for a new chapter, featuring the same event we all have grown to love.
Mission:
New Bern Artists Studio Tour is dedicated to exposing our thriving visual arts community to locals and visitors alike. Families, visitors, students, and neighbors will have the opportunity to directly engage with artists in their studios, gain insights about their creative practices, deepen their appreciation for the arts, and make lasting connections that will strengthen the community as a whole.
Our mission is to educate, inspire, and strengthen the cultural fabric of our community. We are dedicated to making this event an annual attraction in Eastern NC by expanding into other opportunities that align with our mission.
