Christine Provard
Christine is a well-known seascape artist residing in New Bern, North Carolina. Originally from Ohio, she retired from a career in Nursing and relocated here with her husband Rick in 2018. They were drawn to the coast for her painting and love for the ocean. Rick also mats and frames all her original paintings and prints.
Chrstine says she comes alive at the Water’s Edge. She says her love for water began as a small girl living near Lake Erie, Ohio. She has been drawn to the smells and sounds of water along with the boats, sea life, lighthouses and the life found there. She enjoys painting in person plein air or bringing home many photos to use in future paintings. Christine says:
“I love the medium of watercolor and how its magic works with seascapes and landscapes. I also enjoy the medium of oil and cold wax, especially in abstracts. Often, I can spend many hours in my studio working on a new painting or working deeper into one that is calling for more.
I love when someone buys a piece of my work and tells me it touches their “soulâ€. My motto for my own art journey comes from a quote I saw in the past, which represents the fullness of my heart in my art- “Where the sea meets soulâ€.â€
You can find her work at Craven Arts Council and Ballantyne’s Framing in New Bern. She also has work at the Broad Strokes Gallery in Oriental, the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center on Harker’s Island and their store in Morehead City, as well as the Council for the Arts in Kinston, NC. She is also available for commissions and teaching.
