I am an artist who lives and works in New Bern, NC. My formative years were spent painting and drawing under the guidance of my mother, who is an artist and art teacher. I received my degree in Medical Illustration from the Ohio State University and went on to work in this field for many years focusing on accurate rendering of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and graphics related to science and medicine. I studied painting at the Georgetown Studio School, and as a post-graduate student working with William Hawk at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. I currently teach Art to grades 3-5 at Epiphany while maintaining my studio practice. My paintings have been in numerous shows throughout North Carolina. They are for sale at Carolina Creations in New Bern. My work is a result of personal influences and experiences. I admire traditional portrait artists like Velasquez, Hals, Sargent, and Sorolla, and contemporary painters like Alice Neel, Amy Sherald, and Jenny Saville. I enjoy painting people in my own community, as well as flowers and landscapes from my yard.
