Instead of working from a preconceived plan, she treats her studio as a sand- boxes, starting each piece by simply playing with color, texture and form.
Her work is built one layer at a time using a mix of printed matter from old books and magazines, inks, acrylic paint, pens and oil pastels.
As a self-taught artist her style is heavily influenced by the surreal and unconscious realm. This enables Kate to allow spirit and imagination to guide her process, allowing unexpected imagery to appear naturally on the canvas. What follows is often unexpected and exciting, creating dreamlike spontaneous visuals that invite the viewer into the creative unpredictable world of the imagination.
