I was born in NC, however we moved around quite a bit until I was in 6th grade, when we moved to the New Bern area and my father retired from the Navy. I left New Bern to attend college and ended up working for Chrysler 30 years. Early in my career I picked up knitting as a transportable, stress relief hobby. As my career progressed, I travel extensively, knitting and buying yarn along the way. My interest in textiles and sheep grew by leaps and bounds after I visited the Maryland Sheep and Wool festival. The exposure to different breeds of sheep and fiber animals was compelling, so I bought several fleeces and took a spinning class. My journey led me to Abi and High Prairie Fibers, Abi has been involved with fiber arts for more than 40 years. My relationship with Abi as a mentor inspired my passion and increased my knowledge of wool and related fiber arts. In retirement, I started Wayward Fiber Arts to sell my hand spun yarns and knitted accessories, this grew to designing knitting patterns as well as dyeing wool and spinning yarns.
